Lobo Wildlife Lodge is located in the Lobo area, approximately 45 kms from the Kenyan border. Most of the government lodges are terrible but this one is the best of the lot. Built on a magnificent hill it overlooks one of the most picturesque plains in the Serengeti.
They have a beautiful lookout post near the swimming pool where you can view the animals grazing in the plains below. The hotel itself is not fantastic, with a weird retro seventies design and reminded us of a school or a hostel. The staff seem to be in a state of lethargy most of the time, but they are friendly.
It is ideal to stay at this hotel during the periods end of May to end of June as the Lobo area is abundant with wildlife. There are however other options in this area, for example Migration Camp, which offer better accommodation.
The rooms
There are a total of 75 rooms in the hotel, unfortunately none of them have a great view. Although the rooms are fairly comfortable, they are not up to any western standard you may be used to so do not expect anything fantastic. They all have en suite facilities. They are great if you are only wanting a place to put your head down.
The following facilities are available:
* Swimming pool
* Bar and Restaurant
