Basecamp Masai Mara offers seventeen double riverside tents, all built along the banks of the Talek River, the natural border to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The dense riverbed foliage allows for maximum privacy and comfort, without compromising the view of the Masai Mara National Reserve. With more than 286 identified bird species, you are certain to wake to a symphony of birdsong while staying at Basecamp Masai Mara.
The camp provides an excellent base for exploring nature conservation like the Basecamp Nature Forest and Community-based initiatives like the Masai Beading Center (Basecamp Maasai Brand) to promote & preserve local culture and talent. While here experience a combination of authentic hosting and cultural immersion in the company of local Maasai hosts and guides.
Each double tent offers king-size double or twin beds, a bathroom featuring bio-flush toilets and two solar-heated showers, one inside and one open-air safari shower, a private deck where you have a direct view of the Masai Mara National Reserve.
The family tent has two separate wings, each featuring a double bed with a shared bathroom area. The tent offers a larger deluxe balcony to give families or groups a chance to socialize in complete privacy
Dinner is a memorable time of the day, and the option of where to dine is up to you. The camp’s restaurant is located right next to the Talek River with amazing views over the Savannah. Since the restaurant is for communal use, we request all our guests to be courteous towards the people they are sharing the space with and keep their mobile phones in silent mode while enjoying their meals at the restaurant (it is a Mobile-free Zone). We extend this request to the lounge area, where we kindly ask all our guests to keep their phones in silent mode.
